This ceramic mask is a copy of the "Miroku Bosatsu" Buddhist statue in Koryuji Temple in Kyoto, a very well known statue in Japan.
The "Miroku Bosatsu" or Buddha of the Future is venerated by followers of the Shingon sect of Buddhism and is believed to bring good luck and good health.
